Slate Roofs
Slate has been used as a roofing material for centuries, and is commonly found on older building around the Doncaster area.
Slate is available in a range of colours, but as it is a totally natural material, no two tiles are identical which adds to its charm. A slate roof is not the cheapest option but certainly has a timeless quality.
Slate is a particulary hard-wearing material, and if installed correctly a slate roof with certainly stand the test of time. Slate has very low porosity, so should not be affected greatly by moss or lichen, and is fire-resistant.
Slate tiles require a sufficiently strong roof structure to support them, and can be damaged if dropped, or walked on.
