Metal Sheet Roofs
Traditional associated with industrial buildings, sheet metal roofs are made from metal panels which can either be flat or profiled. The metals used tend to be either steel or aluminium. Steel is heavier but is sturdier and can be coated with a range of finishes, to protect from corrosion and add colour. Aluminium is lighter and will not rust but is softer and is more prone to denting etc.
A well installed metal roof will have a long lifespan and is resistant to the weather and fire. Metal roofs can be installed with a minimal pitch and its hard, slippery surface sheds rain and snow effectively. Metal sheet roofs are robust and can be walked on if necessary.
A metal sheet roof will reflect heat from the sun but can become hot, so suitable insulation should be provide if this could be an issue. Insulation will also help lessen the noise of rain and hail on a sheet metal roof.
